WELCOME TO CISS VANCOUVER
Experience a new and exciting approach to language learning! CISS Vancouver operates on the beautiful campus of Capilano University in North Vancouver; an urban location with modern facilities in harmony with its breathtaking natural environment. Inspired by the beauty and history of the land, and Vancouver’s reputation as a global city of the future, this programme offers students an innovative approach to ESL by combining dynamic language classes with our unique “21st Century Skills” workshop series.

 

ACCOMMODATION (SHARED)

• Double rooms in university campus residence
• Each floor has complete washroom and shower facilities
• Males and Females accommodated separately
• Counsellors live on residence floors providing constant supervision
• Laundry facilities located within each residence
• Common rooms with TV and kitchenette on each floor
• Bed linens, blanket, pillow and bath towel included

MEALS (FULLBOARD)

LANGUAGE PROGRAMME
Morning language lessons are designed to improve students’ English communication skills while simultaneously raising their overall level of global awareness. Traditional and modern teaching techniques are blended to help students build their self-confidence and authenticity in English by challenging them to expand their vocabularies and knowledge of how the language works.

Drawing on weekly global curricular themes and a rich diversity of source material from around the world, teachers also use the medium of English instruction to create a bridge between the “global community” in the classroom and the world at large.

• ESL classes = 15 hours per week
• 1 hour = 60 minutes
• Max. of 15 students per class
• Qualified and Experienced Teachers
• 3 Levels of ESL: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
• Level Assessment Upon Arrival

AFTERNOON WORKSHOPS
Workshops offer fun and engaging activitybased challenges designed to push students to think in new ways, learn new approaches to problem-solving, and draw connections to their morning lessons. Collectively, the workshops lead to the development of a “21st century” skill set that will help students navigate the constantly transforming modern workplace and the evolving professional context of the future.

Preparing leaders for their role in an ever-changing world! The Global Leadership programme at St. Michael’s offers specialized lessons, designed and taught by expert staff whose focus is to help participants learn how to effectively lead others, while creating passion and change within themselves and the world around them.

• 20 hours/week
• Combination of in-class instruction, interactive workshops and project planning
• Max. of 20 students per class
• Expert instructors
• Intermediate to Advanced English proficiency (IELTS 4.0+ required)

EXCURSIONS *

Weekly excursions showcase the best tourist attractions that Vancouver has to offer. All trips are organized and led by CISS staff, and provide a ratio for proper safety and supervision.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES
Students seeking adventures beyond what is already offered as part of the included package have the option to pay additional fees for extra activities. Average spending: $70 CAD/week Optional activities are offered once per week and may include:

Extra Fees

Unaccompanied Minor (UM) Fee – CAD 100 – UM fee applies to all students flying as unaccompanied minor with the airline

Custodianship Fee – CAD 125

Extra Night Fee – CAD 250 – Applies to all students who arrive early or depart late

Extra Transfer Fee – CAD 100 – Applies to all students who arrive or depart on non-scheduled dates

Late Arrival / Early Departure Fee – CAD 75 – Applies to all students with flights scheduled to arrive after 22:00 or depart before 8:00
